Berlin is addictive
Whether it is Marlene Dietrich who sang about her homesickness for the Kurfürstendamm or Hildegard Knef who sang that she always had a suitcase in Berlin or the HipHop singer Peter Fox who interpreted Berlin’s different aspects in his album “Stadtaffe”, this metropolis swings and has potential to grip you. Berlin with all its contradictions and contrasts, its numerous life styles and cultures, vibrates, attracts and enthuses. The city with its unique history never stops … Unmistakable Berlin gains new fans every year. The former divided city has become one of Europe’s pulsating creative centres. Berlin rocks, swings, glitters and let’s you go but never leave!
Soulful happiness for everyone
Due to its history the German capital has more than one centre and many a night life district. The huge number of sites and events, art and cultuer, theatres, shows and parties invites you on a discovery tour. Even for little money Berlin has a lot to offer. Hence, one of the cities slogans goes: “The only metropolis in the world, that does not cost the world.” Here everyone can lead their very own life style, as King Frederick II already claimed. The 300th birthday of this “Schöngeist” Prussian king, who was more interested in men than women, is celebrated this year with many events.
For gay and lesbian visitors Berlin has more than one hot spot awaiting. The traditional centres are in Schöneberg around Motzstraße, in Kreuzberg on Oranienstraße, Wrangel-Kiez on Mehringdamm as well as in Prenzlauer Berg around Gleimstraße and Schönhauser Allee. More and more gay and lesbian pubs, bars and clubs make Friedrichshain and Neukölln in-districts.

Welcome to Berlin!
More than twenty years after the fall of the Wall and German reunification, Berlin’s appeal is stronger than ever. Year after year, our tourism industry sets new records, while the city’s population is higher today than it’s been in decades. And for a lot of people, Berlin’s diversity and its many facets are the main attraction.
That’s one reason why gay and lesbian tourists, too, are flocking to Germany’s capital city. As one of Europe’s gay capitals, Berlin has everything a visitor might want: cultural offerings galore, from museums to theater to opera; a varied calendar of events with highlights like Europe’s largest gay and lesbian street fair, the Christopher Street Day parade, the Carnival of Cultures, and much more; and an extraordinary LGBT infrastructure of shops, cafés, bars, and clubs. So get ready for a city with many faces and a very special atmosphere – the characteristic mix of tolerance, open-mindedness, and cultural diversity that makes today’s Berlin so unique.
