Queer Cinema

Berlin as a city can look back on film history and claim to be part of it. A recommendation for all movie fans: Filmhaus on Potsdamer Platz with various exhibitions. The filmfestival Berlinale in February is the highlight of the cineastic year. The official gay-lesbian and transgender film prizes – Teddy Awards – are part of it. Film fans like to visit Kino International (Mitte) on Mondays for “Mongay” or the L-filmnight or Gay-filmnight at CinemaxX (Potsdamer Platz). Xenon cinema in Schöneberg only caters for the gay-lesbian community. There is a Queer Movie Tour which takes you to locations of Berlin’s gay film history! Information under filmstadt-berlin.de. An interesting small filmfestival is Pornfilmfest at Moviemento theatre (Kreuzberg).
